Kingston Barnes would like to congratulate and thank Halsall Construction for holding the Halsall Construction Golf Day.

Held at Farrington Golf Club and all in aid of raising £15,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust we were delighted to take part.

Lots of people attended and with only brief shower the weather was good as our own golf day! The KB team managed to walk away victorious winning the golf day! Although it was very close..

Each year Halsall chooses one charity to raise money for; this year’s chosen charity is the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity dedicated to making this happen.

The charity is especially close to the heart of one member of Halsall’s team – Ian Woodward. Ian’s son Thomas was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma; cancer of the lymphatic system when he was just 17 years old.

“When this happened, this was something that as a parent you hope you never have to deal with. Thomas’s reaction was ‘this is just a blip in my life and I have to get over it’. For someone so young to have this attitude was remarkable.”

We are incredibly pleased that Thomas has now been in remission since December 2014 after having an intense period of chemotherapy.

Over the next year, Halsall will be trying to raise an impressive target of £15,000 as a team to help fund the fantastic work the charity does for young teenagers like Thomas who have been diagnosed with cancer. They will be completing a range of fundraising activities from cake sales to more extreme running and cycling challenges and the proceedings from the golf day will go towards the target.
